My mathematical urban adventure

Back in the 1990s, I was a student. I can’t really say I enjoyed trigonometry class much, despite it being one of the math subjects I actually somewhat understand. Instead, my choice of activity in class was a bit more based upon geography instead, a subject at which I excelled.

As a tired student who enjoys urban areas – cities with buildings and roads and parks – I took to drawing them on paper instead. I took whatever was in my head at the time and put it on paper. Two pages of paper actually, drawing a little bit at a time each class. I would find this again years later and scan it into the computer as seen here. The south end of the city was the initial page and the north end was the latter, notably with improved urban planning.

These days, transportation enthusiasts can be found on social media, conventions, and elsewhere celebrating their love of this topic and are often referred to as “road geeks.”

My mathematical urban adventure of the autumn of 1997…

The reason I failed my high school trigonometry class but scored a 104% in geography class
